BACKWARD DESIGN PROCESS
What is it that I want my students to understand?
Lesson 1 – I want students to be able to explain the Greek Mythological Solar System Planet stories with their peers. (English Language Arts)
Lesson 2 – I want my students to use adjectives to compare and contrast the characteristics of different planets.
Lesson 3 – I want my students to understand some of the contributions made by astronauts.
I want my students to respectfully debate with their peers and provide logical reasons about why people should visit their planet.
Students will debate on – “Why their planet qualifies to be the best and is worth visiting as compared to their peers”.
How do I know that they have learnt?
I know students have learnt by collecting data through various ways through assessments and scoring them through rubrics.
I know students have learnt when they are able to apply the academic language by constructing correct grammatical forms – superlative and comparative degree, explain the mythological stories that I had planned for them.
